The Personal Ministry of Carl Sharkey

"I asked a pastor about my ministry a while back and after a minute of thought he said I had a ministry much as Paul did.

I aint bashful but I can be a Jew to a Jew and a Greek to a Greek, I preach to preachers as he did to apostles. I am of no organized ministry but the Lords. Heck I dont know. That's what he said.

With the extremes I have been blessed to live through I can and do minister to anybody anywhere but at the same time I realize that I am a seed planter and a Sheppard. I respond to each persons personality, I ask questions much like Jesus did leading them to see for themselves the truth of God and his workings everywhere. I do not ever limit the workings of the Holy Spirit by creating a schedule or agenda or ministering in a set fashion. That limits the Spirit to my human rules and limits. Heaven forbid.

When I come together with a person I listen to them and just allow the Spirit to do what ever it will do. I have no preconceived ideas on how or what I am going to say.

If what you are doing is based on Gods words then stop thinking and feel and allow the Lord to work through you. Never say I am going to go there and say this and that to those people and bring them to the Lord.

Instead say that I am going over there and see what the Lord is going to do through me. Plant the seed and the Lord will make it grow. Sometimes it grows before your eyes and other times it takes a loooong time. Other times the soil is too rocky and then we can see if we are to turn away or if we work the ground and help it become fertile.

We have a problem sometimes discerning between Gods will and something we feel strongly about. Either feel strongly about everything or nothing both of these allows the Spirit to work because you are at an even plain, see I feel strongly about everything but at the same time I do not care about anything (but Christ). Whatever happens is up to God through his Son as long as I am committed to Jesus all that happens is his in his hands and can be called predestined.

I can change my feelings towards Christ and struggle along on my own and make a mess of things being like a pin ball bouncing all over or I can stay committed to the Lord and understand that what ever happens is his will no matter what I do and will happen in spite of me.

If Christ is in you then give the steering will (yes will) to him and hang on. It is an awesome ride.

This is a matter of love and trust. Do we love him? Do we trust him? Then give it to him and accept what he puts before us.

Sometimes we must sit the dirt and hold someone and just love them in Christ and other times we might have to beat them over the head with the righteous club of truth.

Do not be discouraged. Look what he has done with this bit of trash."
